Welcome to Institute of Distance Education (UNOM) in HCAS

The Hindustan College of Arts & Science was founded by late Educationist, Philanthropist and a great visionary Dr. K.C.G. Verghese in the year 1995. It's a unit of Hindustan Group of Institutions, affiliated to the University of Madras and is accorded the Minority Status by National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, Govt. of India. (The College offers 17 Under Graduate courses, 7 Post Graduate courses and 3 M.Phil. and 3 Ph.D. Research programmes.

Started as a centre of excellence in Applied Sciences and Arts, the College was accredited by NAAC with ‘B++’ grade and has 2(f) status. It has well–equipped laboratories for various courses. We are very much happy to announce that our college is approved as Learning Support centre by Institute of Distance Education (IDE), University of Madras. In this regard our college is sanctioned to conduct various Post graduate (PG), M.B.A and M.C.A Courses from this academic year 2020 -2021.

There are over 100 qualified faculty members with NET / SLET or Ph.D. Some are Post – Doctorate Fellows dedicated to research activities in their respective departments. Admissions for MBA / MCA / M.Sc. PSCHYLOGY are expected to commence in June 2021.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) Fee & Eligibility

 

Admission Through Single Window Admission Centre

• MBA (HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT)

Students using the Single Window Admission Centre should go through the following instructions:

• 1. The filled-in application form should be submitted at the admission counter
• 2. The application form and other certificates should be arranged in the following order:
  • (i) Filled-in application form;
  • (ii) Photostat copies of the Certificates;
  • (iii) Filled-in Computer Coding Sheet;
  • (iv) If the certificates are in a language other than English / Tamil an authenticated translation in English duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.
• 3. The Photo copies of the Certificates will be verified with the originals and the original certificates will be returned.

Duration of the Programme

TWO years (Four Semesters) programme is offered in Academic year. The programme has been divided into two semesters per year. Academic year stream (i.e.) June to November and December to May.

Eligibility Conditions for Admission

* Candidates for admission to the first year of the Master of Business Administration Degree Course in the Institute of Distance Education shall be required to have ANY ONE of the following qualifications under 10+2+3 pattern of Education:

• i. A pass in any branch of study of a Bachelor Degree/Master Degree of the University of Madras or any other University recognized by the UGC/AIU or a qualification accepted by this University as equivalent thereto.
• ii. A Professional Degree in Engineering/Technology/Medicine/Architecture/Law.
• iii. Professional Qualification in Accountancy/Cost &Works Accountancy/ Company Secretary ship

* A pass in Entrance Test conducted by the IDE, University of Madras, Chennai is mandatory to all the candidates.

 

*Students must pay project fee along with 2nd year Tuition fee, if he/she chooses project in IV semester.

** Inclusive of the Cost of Application Rs.500/- and Entrance fee Rs.400/-

Master of Computer Application (MCA) Fee & Eligibility

Passed B.C.A/B.Sc., in Computer Science or any other equivalent degree OR passed B.Sc/B.Com/BA with Mathematics at 10 + 2 level or at graduation level (with Optional bridge course). In addition, a Candidate must pass in Entrance Test conducted by IDE, University of Madras. A candidate should earn a compulsorily minimum 50% of attendance in theory classes and 100% in practical classes for appearing in the End Semester Examinations.

M.Sc. Psychology Fee & Eligibility

• The program teaches students about the brain, behavior and social interaction among individuals.
• Besides the curriculum, special focus is laid on development of personality, interpersonal relationships and leadership traits to groom future citizens.
• The department has industry and institutional linkages to facilitate internship, guest lectures by senior academicians and thought leaders.
• The department houses an exclusive counseling centre to assist students with their psychological issues if any and to enhance their growth potential.
